Touchwoods – A Case Study
Touchwoods is a specialist sports, outdoor clothing and camping store with three shops based in Oxford and Abingdon with sales of three million. Each shop carries a different range of stock which means that manual stock control is extremely difficult and time consuming. In total there are around 18,000 different stock items including all the size and colour variants.
According to Director David Price, the real benefits of using Top to Toe, are the ease of use of the system, and its speed of response. Top to Toe produces a number of standard reports that David finds essential in helping him manage the shops. The most important are the branch stock and sales report and the daily sales report which enable him to keep low stocks of all items, and place frequent orders to replenish sold items, while never being out of stock.
The shop staff are very impressed with the new system. Nicki, the shop manager at Abingdon Road commented that “the tills are wonderfully simple and easy to use. As each shop holds its own stock, looking up stock availability and making transfers between shops at the tills is now so simple and effective. Customer satisfaction has improved immensely since we are now able to give a much better service”.
